Tim Zimmermann is a freelance writer and correspondent for Outside magazine. He has also written for Sports Illustrated, Men’s Journal, Sailing World, and SAIL magazine, among others. Before he chucked his day job for a life of unlimited freedom and irregular paychecks he was a Senior Editor and Diplomatic Correspondent for U.S. News and World Report. He is the author of The Race (Houghton Mifflin, 2002), an account of the world of extreme sailing. Tim lives with his wife and daughter in the Washington, DC area.
